No School on Monday, May 25th

Wrapping Up the School Year

Synchronous instruction for the Miller Creek School District will end on Friday, June 5th. This means that starting Monday, June 8th, teachers will not hold video lessons with students rather teachers will have prepared and communicated remote learning options that students may accomplish independently.

The week of June 8-11 will also be used to return student belongings, conduct end of year celebrations, return textbooks, collect loaner technology, and return medications and equipment. We are planning to assign families windows of time during the last week of school to return all borrowed items and pick up personal belongings.  You will receive more specific communication about how we will accomplish these tasks while adhering to social distancing guidelines in the coming weeks.   In the meantime, it is time to start looking for those library books!

What Will School Look Like When We Return?

Like you, this is the question that is most on my mind.  The district is working collaboratively with county offices, surrounding districts, and stakeholder groups to develop a plan.  The goal is to design multiple scenarios that illustrate both remote and classroom learning options while adhering to the most current safety guidelines.  There are numerous academic, social, fiscal, and equity considerations when developing plans and health guidelines continue to evolve. I will update families as the plans develop throughout the spring and summer. Whatever form school takes next fall, know that the teachers and staff of Vallecito are dedicated to working in partnership with you to care for your children.

Celebrating Our Retirees

Ms. Elinson and Dannie Jones are retiring at the end of this school year.  Although we are unable to celebrate together in our usual manner, we have reimagined how to thank them for their years of service to Vallecito.  Look for communication from your Grade Level Representatives if you would like to participate.

During Quarantine

Vallecito's own Ella, Vera, and Cassidy made a lesson about friendship that will be on SF Loves Learning on Friday May 22nd. The girls came up with the idea on their own to share with students during this time of sheltering in place.  We are Vallecito Proud!

Virtual Field Day is Coming

We’re excited to announce that our school community will be participating in a Field Day event on Tuesday, June 9th! Field Day is an important tradition at our school. It is a significant day for our students and our staff, and we feel that in these incredibly challenging times this national event is a unique way that we can stay connected as a community and support one another in a fun and meaningful way.

Stay tuned for more direction on this one!

2020-2021 School Year is Open!

Online registration is now available on the Miller Creek School District website.  If you have an incoming student and need to complete registration, please visit the MCSD Registration page TODAY to download your forms. We are making important student enrollment decisions at this time and would appreciate your help in determining an accurate student count.  Please help spread the word to families with incoming Kindergarteners or people who are new to the neighborhood.

You do not need to complete this registration process if your child is already currently attending Vallecito.

Recent weeks have brought disruption to our community, but our Can Do! Education Foundation's mission remains strong: to support and enhance the education of our students.
